Bonjour!

Over the week, I’ve been doing a lot of maintenance on the blog.  I went over all my old posts and fix image’s size and links.  Some posts pre moving to self-hosted didn’t support the move so I will republish them over the next few days.

Today, I’m republishing how to make a flower with a loom, a fun craft kids can enjoy doing in the school holiday.

This is an easy way to make a nice flower you can fix to a jacket, a bag or a headband.

It’s also a great way to use all this extra bit of wool you might have.

You will need:

– A loom you can cut in a shoe box (here are some templates);

– Up to three different colours of yarn (I used two for this flower);

– You will also need a wool needle.

How to make the flower:

Pass the yarns in the first hook of the loom.

Pass the yarns to the hook across the loom making the shape of the number 8.

Flower loom 5

Pass the yarns again in the first hook always in the shape of the number 8.

And, again, to the hook across the loom (you can repeat a third time.)

Now, pass the yarns to the second hook.

Flower loom 8

Pass the yarns across to the opposite hook in the shape of the number 8.

Flower loom 9

Repeat another time.

Now, pass the yarns to the third hook, to the hook across in the shape of the number 8 and repeat.

When you passed the yarns around all the hooks of the loom, you should have this result.

Cut the yarns.

Thread a wool needle and do few stitches in the middle of the flower (you can also use a yarn of a different colour).

Here, I did five stitches and went over the stitches three times.

On the back of the loom, insert the needle in the middle of the flower.

Cut the yarns.

Remove the flower from the loom.

Have you ever tried to do a flower with a loom?

Happy Friday and Enjoy your week-end!

Au revoir!
