Wordless Wednesday – It’s the tomato sauce time!

by Rita Azar on February 27, 2013

February is the time my in-laws get together with friends and family to prepare the bottles of tomato sauce for the rest of the year.

As you can see in these pictures, they are well equipped and well organised!

Thanks for sharing – as kids my mum used to make spaghetti, and also preserve every fruit you can imagine. Unfortunately I have developed her passion for it :( xx

Just placed your link under my own in comments on my Facebook page. My inlaws still fire their drums by fire, but being in suburbia my parents now use gas under the house :) Still can’t get over how similar your photos are – same machinery, same buckets lol

This post made me return many years back… I remember my grand parents when they use to do the tomato sauce. Rita, you took perfect pictures.

This reminds of that movie/book “looking for Alabrandi” where at the beginning of the movie all the relatives get together to make tomato sauce. What a wonderful tradition!

Oh wow I have always been envious of Italian families for having tomato day – I really want to come to one and help out :) And then take home a few bottles of delicious sauce of course!!
