Wordless Wednesday – My crooked Christmas tree and my lovely village

by Rita Azar on December 11, 2012

Hubby is use to have a real Christmas tree; he loves the smell.  As for me, I always had an artificial one; less messy, you don’t have to water it every day, the smell of a real one doesn’t even last long.  I’m trying to convince him to buy an artificial Christmas tree for next year especially after spending an hour trying to put this one straight.  After much swearing from him and whinging from me, we had to accept that this Christmas tree will stay crooked…

I have four houses in my village, one for each Christmas spent in Australia.  Every year, I buy one.  I aim to get to twenty houses!

Do you have a real Christmas tree or an artificial one?

Oh wow I love your Christmas themed corner. My hubster would love that train set too – boys never get too old for train sets!

Thanks Janet! Love this little train! I found it for only 10 dollars and jumped on it!

I have an artificial small tree this year and a beautiful village with 3 houses: one for our God, one for Jesus and one for the Holy Spirit. Merry Christmas to all .

I’d love to get an artificial tree. It is indeed too much hassle a real one.

We have two artificial ones, the big one, that hasn’t been out for a couple of years, and my little artificial fibre optic one. We never had a real tree as my Mum didn’t want the hassle. She also didn’t want to spend Christmas watching a tree die! I kinda have to agree with her on that.

Your tree looks awesome despite the crookedness and I love your Christmas village. So cool!

That is so true, another argument to add to my list: I hate seeing the tree dying… It dries up so quickly…

Very cool. Even with the crooked tree lol.

We go artificial – however yours even though crooked it still has plenty of Christmas Spirit about it. Just think after a few drinks during the festive season it may start to look straight.

Hahaha! This is so true! Good thinking!

Awwww, im jealous you have a husband willing to put the effort into a real tree, I bet it smells so Christmassy. We always just have our neat little artificial one, but somehow I think i’d rather yours

Haha Rhian, I did the Christmas tree at my in-laws too this year!

Your tree has character (think Leaning tower of Pisa). Also, love the houses- you won’t have room for a tree when you’re done collecting them :)

Rita Azar December 18, 2012 at 1:36 am

This is exactly what I thought about when I had to come to the conclusion it could not be fixed: Pisa Tower! I will have to find another corner with 20 houses!

We considered a real tree this year but I baulked at the extra work and hassle so we bought a new artificial one instead. I love your decoration and your houses – I really hope you do get to 20!

Rita Azar December 18, 2012 at 1:37 am

I think you took a good decision buying an artificial one Kirsty!

We’ve scored a free fibre optic tree for this year. Had real trees the two years previously and treeless before that. Not sure how long the fibre optic tree will stick around for, but it’s nice for a change…

I like fibre optic trees. Love the lights and the colours.

Unfortunately my dear Rita, I have to agree with your hubby. A real Christmas tree is so much better but as you say an artificial one is less messy and this is why I have an artificial one. It is nothing like a real one but I still like it. I love your village and my little Ace would love your train. Miss you

Thank you so much for stopping by! I tried and I don’t think I will convince him to change to an artificial one!…

We have a artificial one for years. Im thinking to get a real one maybe in 2 Xmas so the girls will be older and will buy it with them. If it won’t be straight, I dont know what I will do. The little houses are lovely. Merry Christmas!

Rita Azar December 18, 2012 at 2:00 am

Good idea, so they can enjoy it more. Merry Christmas to you and all your family!

They are truly beautiful decorations! My boy would love that train set.
We only have an artificial tree. It’s just easier for us at the moment. I do love the idea of getting a real one…maybe one Christmas :) x

When I was a kid we would always go and cut a real one, these days we go for the fake tree. I love the idea of the train set and the little houses :)

Thanks Alicia! I love watching the tree and the village at night time with all the lights, so peaceful!

That is such an enviable Christmas fare. How beautiful Rita. I have one very small tree about a foot high heaving with decorations. I’d love to have a real tree again but we go overseas each year after Christmas generally so it’s a waste. We have some lovely lights but we’ve been so tired we forget to put them on. Now the weekend is here we might become a bit more merry. :-)

I agree, it’s not worth it to have a real one if you go away. Wishing you a beautiful trip to Paris! Bon voyage!

Impressive effort, Rita – and I love the touch with the train! As kids we used to get into it with real trees and nativity scenes. I’m a little less in the spirit as an adult… at present, my home is decoration free.. oops. My excuse is the lack of kids.

Reply

Rita Azar December 18, 2012 at 1:45 am

Oh Alarna when it comes to Christmas decoration, I become a kid again! I get so excited about it!

Oh Rita hun that is just GORGEOUS!! Now I want a village!
I’ve always wanted a real tree but my husband thinks that I won’t like it once it’s here. He’s probably right, but we should at least try, right? :)

Reply

Rita Azar December 18, 2012 at 1:47 am

Thanks Kelly! Try with a small one and see if you like it… They are just so much work!
